Benya. Thank you for sharing this. It’s so helpful, for all of us, regardless of our relationship with alcohol.

Congratulations on your journey, with alcohol and with guilt and with depression - I admire your resilience. And your courage to share about it.

When we are talking about guilt and and our relationship with alcohol… I also think it’s important to question the terms we use, like alcoholic in particular. My personal belief is that this term blames the person instead of the substance, which adds unnecessary and unfair shame and guilt to those of us struggling with something that’s already really really hard.

The reality is that alcohol is bad for us. All of us. Red wine isn’t good for your heart. I wish we talked about that more, and blamed alcohol more.
