I think the spirit behind the comment matters a lot. If I’m replying just so that I can plug my article, I think that’s lame and no fun (and let’s be real, that happens). I did that once and I still regret it.
If I’m genuinely relying because I have something to say and I want to be part of the conversation, then I agree - linking to a related story is helpful, interesting and efficient… and leaves the reader a choice to check it out, or not! I do that (when it fits) and I don’t feel out of integrity at all. We are a community of readers and writers. I think this is exactly what we are here to do, right? Learn and share and inspire each other?
