Really feeling your here Gillian. I know you already know this, but I’ll say it anyway, you are doing a lot with your example. Reminds me of a line from a beautiful poem by Toko-pa Turner, “May you know for certain that even as you stand by yourself, you are not alone.” It is a journey we have to walk by ourselves, but hopefully not always alone.

I also have a transgenerational relationship with alcohol, and I’m also the first person I know of to walk away from alcohol, truly, and the layers of differentiation have been achingly lonely and disorienting.
